ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT THIS? PAY the PRICE

Hello everyone! I am back. I was really busy for the past months because I was so focused on my studies and preparing for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) Exam.

So here I am again to guide you in your journey also to becoming a future Global Korea Scholarship awardee. My question for you is - ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT THIS?

It is not all about KOREA - it is about YOU, your dreams. How much do you want it and are you willing to pay the price?


My story: (I am not saying that what I experienced here will be your experience too, just sharing hehe)

We are now here in South Korea - ready to live the dream!!! Excited to pursue my Master's Degree but wait. . . FIRST, you need to pass the TOPIK II Exam.πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…


Okay, so we are doing the Korean Language Classes. At first, it really looked sooooo exciting! - New faces, new country, new friends, new food, ALL NEW. And honestly speaking I thought the Korean language was easy. Why? because when you watch K-dramas, everything you hear is like a very smooth-flowing language, cute, and very short phrases. Then I knew that K-drama vocabs and grammar are quite different for writing, and are quite shortened versions. haha.

TOPIK is hard, especially when you do not have any background in it. I cried several times while studying because I felt like I was just pushing myself to memorize the vocabulary and struggling to understand the grammar that seemed ALL SYNONYMOUS to me (you'll understand me once you study Korean Language baby!).

I failed my first take simply because I wasn't ready yet. Our lessons were on Level 2 that time and we were just required to take TOPIK II so we took the exam. Ahahahaha. Finally, I passed TOPIK II the second take.

The price I paid:

* Sleepless nights - - - haha NO, just few hours of sleep like 4-5 hours everyday

* Stress - - - studying your Korean Language Curriculum at school while also studying for TOPIK. Take note that your lessons from your university are different from the Actual TOPIK Exam. TOPIK is waaaaay harder.

* Almost No Communication - - - haven't been able to talk much to my family and friends because we were too busy and too focused in studying. Even me and my roommate seldom talk because she, too, was very focused. hehe


We felt like we entered training for the Olympics - Korean Language Battle. hahaha.


My Advice:

* Study basic Korean before coming to Korea

* Buy books - - - HOT TOPIK, 합격 λ ˆμ‹œν”Ό - this one's my favorite.

* Practice - - - a lot.

GKS FAQs: How do I submit my GKS Application Forms?

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog! Congratulations on finishing your application forms. I know you spent a lot of time processing requirements and documents. So, it is time for you to finally submit it. Yehey! but....how? See below my tips on how to send your GKS application forms for both tracks. Submitting GKS forms: Embassy Track Hooray! This is the easiest compared to University Track (in most cases, except, if you are a foreigner in South Korea who lives near the University to which you are applying, haha). If you are near the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in your home country , then you may submit it personally. If you are far from the embassy, just submit it via courier of your choice.
