GKS-G Tips to increase the chances of being selected!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. :)

Want to increase the chances of being selected in the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Program? See tips below.

***DISCLAIMER: ALL THE TIPS STATED HERE ARE BASED ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND OBSERVATION ONLY. I DO NOT REPRESENT NIIED OR ANY OTHER KOREAN ENTITIES.***

TIP#1 - REVIEW PREVIOUS GKS-G ROUND RESULTS

  • Download the GKS-G Final Round of Successful candidates in the GKS Notice Board.
  • Search for your desired course by using Ctrl+F.
  • Once you've searched for your desired course, take note of the Universities that accepted that course.
  • Then, reverse, search for the Universities which accepted the course you want to take and take note how many did they accept via Embassy Track vs University Track.
  • You may review up to two (2) years result of GKS-G.

TIP#2 - CHECK OUT THE PERFORMANCE OF EACH SCHOOL VIA QS UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

Most of the time, if the University is performing well, NIIED might give more chances or privileges to that University to accept more international students.

TIP#3 - RESEARCH MORE ABOUT YOUR TOP 3 UNIVERSITIES AND NARROW IT DOWN TO ONE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE APPLYING VIA UNI TRACK)

Look for the Universities' Mission, Vision, and Objective, and also their recent posts on facebook or Instagram accounts, just to see whether they are INTERNATIONAL-FRIENDLY or not. Because some Universities are really promoting and inviting students to study and they are very happy about that. So, give what they want and apply there.

TIP#4 - CHECK FOR THE COURSE WHICH THAT SPECIFIC UNIVERSITY IS STRONG AT.

Some Universities accept more about Food and Biotechnology or Agriculture, some about Engineering, some about International Relations. Each University has its own signature course or strengths.

TIP#5 - GO FOR NATURAL SCIENCE / ENGINEERING COURSES

South Korea is a leading world for research and technology. They want to have international students to take Natural Science and Engineering courses to boost up their Global Image, School Capability, School Credentials, and many more. It will benefit both South Korea and your home country, too, because we are promoting Science & Technology.

So, those are just my tips. Work hard and pray harder. Know what you are getting yourself into. Prepare well and do your best! After all, this is a fully-funded scholarship and they don't want their money to go to waste. Prove to them that you are capable. Believing in yourself is winning 50% of the battle already. Aja!~ Fighting!~💪

Hope this helps. :)
